How to Become a Geek

Geeks are usually considered nerds. Sometimes, being a geek can be a good thing. Geeks tend to do good in school and stay out of trouble. If you want to become a geek, it will take some work. You have to change your style, mind and attitude. You also have to accept a new social status.

1. Hang out with the geeky crowd. In most cases, you can find the geeks by looking for the intellectual crowd who are unaware of current fashion trends. Consider looking in the library or science lab before school, at lunch or after school.

2. Join subject related clubs such as the math club, science club or foreign language club. These clubs usually have geeky members. Sometimes, these clubs will have one or two popular people. If that is the case in your school, forgo joining that club and join a different one.

3. Dress the part. Wear pants that are too short, suspenders and pocket protectors. Big ugly glasses may help you to feel more like a geek. Make sure that your clothes aren't mistaken as part of any current style trend.

4. Ignore the popular crowd unless you are tutoring a popular person. When you become a geek, you have to accept the fact that you will be considered a member of a lower social class. In other words, you give up your claim to any social status even close to popular.

5. Study at the expense of your social life. If you want to be a geek, you must become obsessed with intellectual pursuits. This means that you make the highest grades because you study constantly.

6. Speak the language. Geeks tend to speak more in technical terms than in layman's terms. You should learn the scientific or technical name for everything possible.
