How to Make a Raw Apple Cake
If you want a dessert that is adventurous but tasty, you might try making a raw apple cake. Despite the name, this isn't a no-bake confection. You'll need an oven and common cooking utensils to whip it up in your kitchen. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Rectangular baking pan, lightly floured
- 1 cup white sugar
- Large mixing bowl
- Large mixing spoon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 1/4 cup flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 2 large eggs
- Small mixing bowl
- Wire wisk
- 1/2 cup canola oil
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 cups of tart apples, cored, peeled and chopped
- Extra brown sugar
- Frozen whipped topping, ice cream or whipped cream

Grease a rectangular baking pan, and flour it lightly. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Place the white sugar in a large mixing bowl. Stir in the brown sugar, flour, baking soda, salt and ground cinnamon.

Crack the eggs into a small mixing bowl and whisk them lightly. Whisk in the canola oil and buttermilk.

Use a large spoon to make a hole in the center of the dry ingredients and pour the liquid mixture into the hole. Stir the mixture thoroughly until it's smooth. Add the sliced apples.

Sprinkle a generous layer of brown sugar on top of the cake batter.

Pour the raw apple cake batter into the prepared pan, and bake it for 45 minutes.

Serve raw apple cake with whipped topping or ice cream.
