Taking an everyday, ordinary object and making it exceptional is always fun. Modify your cigarette lighter to shoot a huge flame that they will see from down the block. It won't quite qualify as a flamethrower, but you will attract attention.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check the metal area of the lighter to be sure it's not hot before continuing. Don't use a lighter that shows any signs of leakage.

  2. Step 2

Turn the flame adjuster to low and remove the metal cap by prying it gently or wiggling it from side to side.

  3. Step 3

Push down on the flame adjustment lever and move it towards the high end. Push the lever up and move it to the low end. Repeat this process 3 to 4 times, checking for fluid leakage each time.

  4. Step 4

Place the metal lighter cap back on and hold the lighter away from your body. Light the flame to see it shoot into the air. It may take several attempts the first time. Turn the lighter flame off after five seconds.

  5. Step 5

Remove the metal cap when it has cooled and adjust the flame to shoot higher by repeating the process.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not use a lighter that has begun to leak.
  • Point the flame away from people, animals and objects.
  • Do not attempt this with a lighter that has an adjustment wheel.
