Things You'll Need:
- Deep and/or volumizing conditioner
- Antihumectant leave-in conditioner
- Antihumectant spray or serum
- Straightening iron
-
Step 1
Repair your hair, as dry, damaged hair soaks up humidity like a sponge, adding not only curl but also frizz. If you have thick, curly hair, use a deep conditioner every day to both moisturize and smooth unruly curls. For fine hair, volumizing lightweight conditioners are best, as they prevent your hair from looking flat.
-
Step 2
Apply a leave-in conditioner with the words "antihumectant," "antihumidity," "smooth," or "shine." Make sure you work the conditioner into your damp hair from root to tip.
-
Step 3
Allow your hair to air-dry, as a blow-dryer, while convenient, robs your hair of needed moisture. Blow-drying your hair only makes it curl more than ever when humidity hits.
-
Step 4
Seal your hair, once it has dried, with an antihumectant spray or serum. For thick, coarse, curly hair, serum works best; for thin hair, use spray, which won't weight the hair down. After applying the serum on dry hair, you can use straightening irons to get a smooth, silky look that will withstand the humidity.
