How to Keep a Dog's Breath Fresh

A dog may be your best friend, but sometimes his breath can bowl you over. Doggie breath is some of the foulest-smelling stuff around. You can't use mouthwash to clean his mouth or give him a breath mint, but you can make him some treats that will keep his breath fresh and both of your smiling.

Things You'll Need

  • Brown rice flour
  • Activated charcoal
  • Large egg
  • Vegetable oil
  • Chopped fresh parsley
  • Chopped fresh mint
  • Milk
  • 2 bowls, medium and large
  • Cookie sheet

Instructions

    • 1

Place the flour, salt and charcoal in a bowl and mix well. The charcoal serves to absorb the odors of the dog's breath. If you find the first batch of these cookies doesn't completely get rid of the doggie breath, add a double portion of the charcoal to the next batch. Be careful to not spill it on anything, as cleaning it up is difficult.

    • 2

Combine the oil, parsley, mint and egg in a medium bowl. Stir well to scramble the egg. Removing the bad breath is only the first step. Use the mint and parsley to replace it with fresh minty breath. You can change the taste of the treats by using different mints to keep the cookies different.

    • 3

Add the flour mixture to the egg mixture and stir well. Once you combine all the dry ingredients, the dough will still be powdery. Slowly stir the milk into the dough until it thickens and comes together. The final consistency should be that of normal drop biscuits.

    • 4

Prepare a baking sheet with a bit of cooking spray or butter and drop the dough by tablespoons onto it. Space the cookies about 1 inch apart. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

    • 5

Allow the cookies to settle. When the oven is heated, place the sheet in it for 15. Allow the cookies to cool. Store them in the refrigerator until you use them.

    • 6

Purchase a dog toy that will give your canine friend's breath a fresh, minty odor. This will help limit his indulgence in the tasty cookies you baked him.
