An astrological birth chart, also called a natal chart, describes the twelve themes of your life based on the constellations and their alignments in the sky at the precise time and place you were born. Each theme reflects one of the twelve "houses," or alignments, into which the planets and stars are divided. Your overall chart will give you a greater understanding of your personality.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to an online astrological site (see Resources below). Enter your exact birth date, the exact time of your birth, if known, and the city and state in which you were born. If this information is not precise, your birth chart the site generates will be less specific in its assessment.

  2. Step 2

Learn the twelve life themes that each house represents. For example, the second house represents money, the seventh is marriage and relationships, while the tenth is occupation. When reading your chart, you must understand which house you're reading so you can apply it to that area of your life.

  3. Step 3

Decide whether or not your chart predicted past scenarios from your life. While a birth chart can't predict the future, it is meant to predict general scenarios. For example, if the chart indicates you have an analytical mind and enjoy working with numbers, perhaps this figured in your decision to become an accountant.

Tips & Warnings
  • Read through your chart with an open mind, as some parts will seem to contradict others.
