1
Turn off the water supply to the faucet.
-
2
Pry out the cap in the center of the handle with a screwdriver. If that doesn't work, use a pair of channel-lock pliers to loosen it. Once it's loose, remove it with your hand.

-
3
Remove the screw that holds the handle to the valve stem. A flathead screwdriver will do the job. Once you remove the screw, just pull the handle and it'll come right off.
-
4
Use a pair of channel-locks to remove the fitting that holds the cover (it's in the shape of a cone) in place. Next, remove the two fittings on the faucet mechanism with a wrench and unscrew the valve stem. Notice the screw that holds the washer in place. Remove the screw and the washer will pop right off.

5
Replace the old washer with the new one; it'll fit perfectly in the circular metal ridge. Apply a dab of pipe thread compound to the threads on the stem before reinstalling it.
-
6
Tighten back the fittings and place the cover back in its place. Screw on the handle. Screw the little cap back into the center of the handle.
