The BMX Toothpick is a difficult BMX trick performed on a ramp. The rider begins at the top of one ramp, rides down it, gains speed and goes up another ramp. When he gets to the top of the second ramp, he plants one front axel peg on the top of the ramp while his back wheel is suspended in the air.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • BMX bike with front axel pegs
  • At least two ramps
  1. Step 1

Start the BMX Toothpick at the top of the first ramp. Ride down the ramp and pedal toward another ramp. Pedal to increase your speed. Get your bike up to medium speed as you approach the second ramp.

  2. Step 2

Ride up the second ramp. When you reach the top, shift your weight over the front end of the bike to get in the BMX Toothpick position.

  3. Step 3

Plant the front axel peg on the edge of the ramp deck. The back wheel needs to be in the air as your feet remain on the pedals. Hold the Toothpick position for a couple seconds. Let the back end of the bike swing parallel to the deck as you keep the axel peg planted.

  4. Step 4

Drop back into the ramp. Let your weight fall toward the ramp as you swing the bike back around and down the ramp. Cruise back down the ramp to complete the trick.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wear elbow pads, knee pads, gloves and a helmet while you do the BMX Toothpick.
  • All BMX ramp tricks come with risk of injury. Practice the BMX Toothpick at your own risk.
