The BMX Squeaker is a well-known BMX bike trick performed both on and off ramps. It is called "The Squeaker" because of the squeaky sound the tire makes as the trick is performed. During the trick, the rider balances his bike on its front tire while he propels the bike backward, pushing the front wheel with one foot. Learn the BMX Squeaker to improve your balance skills.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • BMX bike with front axel pegs
  • Bike ramp
  1. Step 1

Approach the BMX Squeaker. Sit on the bike and place the pedals in the 6 o'clock and 12 o'clock positions. Put one foot on the pedal in the 6 o'clock position. Keep the other foot on the ground. Push off the ground with your foot to set the bike into forward motion.

  2. Step 2

Get into the BMX Squeaker position. As the bike gains speed, press on the hand break. Your weight shifts forward and the bike goes up onto its front tire. Balance on the front tire as you change the position of your feet. Place the foot that is on the pedal, onto the front axel peg. Put the foot that is on the ground onto the back of the front tire.

  3. Step 3

Move the bike backward. This is called "scuffing." Maintain balance on the front tire. Release the hand break and push the front tire backward with the foot that is on the tire. Grab the hand break as you begin to lose balance. The tire makes a squeaking sound. Release the hand break and repeat the scuffing motion as many times as you can while performing the Squeaker.

  4. Step 4

Finish the BMX Squeaker. Scuff backward toward a ramp. When the front tire hits the ramp, apply the hand breaks. Lean back to shift the back tire to the ground. Find the pedals with your feet and pedal forward in a smooth motion.
