Although video games have gotten more advanced since the 1980's phenomena of Pac-Man, he is still an iconic symbol of video game history. A good Pac-Man costume is time consuming, but well worth the effort, especially if you have friends dressed up as the Pac-Man ghosts.

Make a Detailed Costume
-
1
Gather approximately 100 cardboard boxes and duct tape. Measure the person whom the costume is for from the top of their head to their knees. Add approximately 3 to 4 inches to the top of the head. This measurement is how tall your circle should be, with the circle measuring 2 to 3 feet wide.
-
2
Flatten and tape the cardboard boxes together, until you have a surface area large enough to cut out your first circle. Use a box cutter to cut out your circle, then repeat the same process to make the second circle.
-
3
Draw the mouth area, which resembles a large sideways V, onto your first circle. Use a box cutter to cut out the mouth. Lay your first circle on top of the second and cut out the mouth, following the lines of the first circle so that your sides are symmetrical.
-
4
Make the spine of the Pac-Man costume by using small cardboard boxes, approximately 2 feet by 2 feet, and opening them flat. Tape the box edges to the edges of the back, top and partial underside of the Pac-Man costume. Leave enough room open at the bottom for the wearer to slip it over his head.
-
5
Slip the costume over the wearer's head and determine where the arm holes should go. Cut out the arm holes with a box cutter. Next, cover your Pac-Man costume with yellow paper, material or spray paint. If you used boxes with printing on them, you might need a few layers or coats of yellow covering. You can use material glue for covering the Pac-Man with cloth.
-
6
Let your Pac-Man costume dry, if using paint or gluing on material. Add the black eye, which looks like a backwards Pac-Man. Your costume is ready.
Make a Simple Costume
-
1
Use a large cardboard box, or many cardboard boxes taped together and cut out a Pac-Man shape. You may need a box cutter, rather than scissors, for cutting out Pac-Man.
-
2
Paint the Pac-Man costume yellow with spray paint or poster paint. Let it dry and draw on the black eye, which looks like a backwards Pac-Man.
-
3
Cut out two small holes in the top of the Pac-Man and thread a rope or other piece of material through the holes and create a neck loop.
-
4
Put your neck through the loop and you have a simple Pac-Man costume.
