Knitting is relaxing and fun. It's a hobby that produces something tangible when you are finished. It's also a hobby that you can do anywhere. Knit while you sit in the doctor's office or while you wait in your car. Knitting fingerless gloves is a fun and easy knitting project that's great for a beginner. It's a simple pattern that produces a pair of cute and usable gloves.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Size 7 needles
  • 1 skein of 100 percent wool
  • Thread
  • Sewing machine or needle
  • Blunt point needle
  1. Step 1

Cast on 38 stitches. You can do more or fewer stitches depending on how large or small you want your fingerless gloves.

  2. Step 2

Knit two stitches and purl two stitches to start the first row. Repeat this pattern to the end of the row and end with knitting two stitches.

  3. Step 3

Purl two stitches and knit two stitches to start the second row. Continue this pattern to the end of the row and end with purling two stitches.

  4. Step 4

Repeat these two rows multiple times. Continue until the piece measures 7 inches or the desired length.

  5. Step 5

Bind off loosely, and then fold your piece in half so that the ribbing is vertical. Sew 1 inch down the side from the top and sew 3 inches up the side from the bottom. Leave a 3 inch opening for your thumb. You can either sew by hand or use a sewing machine.

  6. Step 6

Weave in the ends using a blunt point needle to gather in the loose threads. Enjoy your new knitted fingerless gloves.

Tips & Warnings
  • The gauge of this pattern is five stitches per inch in knit two, purl two rib, slightly stretched.
