Having a BlackBerry is a great convenience, giving you freedom and flexibility to send and receive email wherever there's a phone signal. Forwarding email from another account to a BlackBerry is also an advantage. There are two basic ways to set up forwarding to your BlackBerry. Follow the steps below to learn how to forward your email to your BlackBerry.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

    Use the Blackberry Internet Service

  1. Step 1

Use a browser on your computer to go to your cell phone provider's BlackBerry Internet Service website. Click "Email Accounts."

  2. Step 2

Click "Set Up Account" to move to the next screen.

  3. Step 3

Type your personal email address information. Click "Next."

  4. Step 4

Select the "This is my personal email account" option. Click "Next."

  5. Step 5

Choose "Automatically detect my Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express settings." Click "Next."

  6. Step 6

Complete the instructions on the screen to download and install an application that accesses the Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Outlook Express options on your computer. Once completed, you'll have a BlackBerry icon on your desktop.

  7. Manually Forward Personal Email to a BlackBerry

  8. Step 1

Access your personal email account. Most personal email accounts, such as Yahoo!, Gmail, and Hotmail, allow you to forward all incoming mail to another email address.

  9. Step 2

Choose the automatic forwarding option in your email account. This is usually found in the Settings or Setup of your personal email account. For example, in Gmail, you'll choose "Settings" then "Forwarding and POP/IMAP." If you can't find your personal email's mail forwarding option, check the Help section.

  10. Step 3

Type in your BlackBerry email address that you set up when you first got your BlackBerry as the address that you would like your personal email forwarded to. Your BlackBerry email address from your cell phone provider ends in "blackberry.net."

  11. Step 4

Send a test email to your personal email account to see if your personal email is forwarding to your BlackBerry email. Once you set up the forwarding successfully, your personal email will be available on your BlackBerry.

Tips & Warnings
  • When you manually forward your email to your BlackBerry email address, keep the original email on the server, if your personal email provider allows.
  • You may also be able to forward your work email to your BlackBerry, but you need to discuss this with your IT department as they have to handle most of the steps.
