There are a number of bump proof locks on the market today. Some use an electronic keypad to provide protection from lock bumpers. If you install a bump proof lock, you may run into a few problems that you need to troubleshoot, both during the installation and after.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tools to install the lock
  • Programming codes
  • New batteries
  1. Step 1

Install the keypad assembly. Sometimes the keypad won't go on easily on a keypad entry lock. You need to make sure the bar on the assembly passes through the space on the latch.

  2. Step 2

Look at the cables as they sometimes the cables pinch between the pad and the door. If you have trouble installing the keypad or it isn't working, make sure that the cables move freely.

  3. Step 3

Inspect the cables if the mounting bracket doesn't sit flush. Also, make sure the bar is through the interior hole properly.

  4. Step 4

Confirm the code if the keyless lock doesn't open. When you input your user code, write it down somewhere in the house. If it isn't working, clear the code and begin again. The company provides a programming code that clears any input security code already in existence so you start from scratch.

  5. Step 5

Examine the electrical hook up. Some lock pads require electrical wiring to operate. Check the electrical hook up and the breaker if your bump proof lock isn't working. Make sure the breaker is on and you hooked the wires up correctly

  6. Step 6

Check the battery. Bump proof door locks are either electric or battery operated. If your keyless pad door lock isn't working, make sure that you checked the battery. It may need replacing.
