Perhaps you love the deep vibrating bass in music, but you can't get the sound you love in your car stereo. Perhaps you can't afford to buy a system that will give you the low rumble you desire. Hook up a PA head to a car to run a home theater subwoofer.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging
Step1
Find a head unit or amplifier with a RMS handle that's large, as well as a power inverter such as those that can plug into a cigarette lighter when you are hooking up a PA head to a car to run a home theater subwoofer. The unit should use 120 volts--AC versus DC.
Step2
Insert the power inverted into the socket for the cigarette lighter in your car. If you are unable to do this, hook up the positive and negative cables of the power inverter to your battery. The first method works best.
Step3
Attach the speaker to the head unit by using cables you create or through a ΒΌ-inch plug. If you create cables, make sure you apply the proper insulation to the outside of the cables so you do not inadvertently create a short.
Step4
Connect the inverter and the head unit as you hook up a PA head to a car to run a home theater subwoofer. Turn the head unit on, and check to see the reading on the inverter. If the inverter readings stay within the normal levels and the battery escapes overloading, then you are okay.
Step5
Make sure that the fuse of the inverter is marked 30A. If it is not, make sure you purchase one that is marked 30A and install it when you hook up a PA head to a car to run a home theater subwoofer. These fuses are available at any local store. Check to make sure that it works when you turn the head unit on.
Step6
Take out the stereo of your car, and locate the rear channel outputs. You can choose to run a line from the head unit to the output, or chose to have a line that will just be for the subwoofer when you hook up a PA head to a car to run a home theater subwoofer.
Step7
Examine the head unit's plug. If it has a ground, run a line from the ground of the plug to a paint-free metal section of your car. The line can be 2 feet in length. Give it the juice, and enjoy the sound.
