Things You'll Need:
- C motor (one with a plastic gear attached to the shaft works well)
- 1 alligator clip
- Solder
- Soldering gun
- Length of PVC pipe (exact measurement up to you)
-
Step 1
Attach the alligator clip the gear of the DC motor. You can find a DC motors in VCRs and tape players.
-
Step 2
Make sure the alligator clip attaches firmly to the teeth of the gear. You might find that clipping it to the top and also the bottom of the gear works best as you make a vibrating motor.
-
Step 3
Test the clip to make sure it can revolve around safely without catching on any protruding or otherwise motor parts.
-
Step 4
Turn on your soldering gun and allow it to heat up until it is very hot.
-
Step 5
Hold the tip to the alligator clip until it melts the clip and the plastic together. This should happen in 30 seconds or less.
-
Step 6
Solder the alligator clip so that the clip cannot open as you make a vibrating motor.
-
Step 7
Make sure your finger is out of the way as you attach the power and ground wires to the DC motor. Connect the ground and power wire to the motor.
-
Step 8
Use a length of PVC pipe to enclose the vibrating motor so you will not get injured by the alligator clip as it spins.
