Things You'll Need:
- Clear tape
- Needle nose pliers
- Pen
- Wire cutters
- 6 inches of wire
- Flat pliers
-
Step 1
Place a piece of clear tape on the tip of the nose of your needle nose pliers and then use a pen to mark 1/2, 1 and 1 1/4 inches from the tip. These marks will help you to measure the spaces and make perfectly sized loops.
-
Step 2
Cut a piece of wire about 6 inches long.
-
Step 3
Grip the end of the wire with the very tip of your pliers and guide the wire all the way around the nose to make the smallest loop possible. Remove the loop from your pliers and then grip the wire again, lining the wire up with your 1/2-inch pen mark. You should leave about 1/2 inch between the base of the first loop and the beginning of the second loop.
-
Step 4
Complete the first loop around the 1/2-inch pen mark, moving in the same direction as your first tiny loop and then, again leave 1/2 inch and create a second loop around the 1/2-inch mark. This time, wrap the wire in the opposite direction around the pliers.
-
Step 5
Leave 1 inch and create your third loop wrapping the wire in the opposite direction around your 1 1/4-inch mark. Again, leave 1 inch and wrap your fourth loop in the opposite direction around the 1-inch mark. Create the fifth and sixth loops using the same alternating loop technique, wrapping around the 1 1/4-inch mark and leaving 1 1/4 inches between loops.
-
Step 6
Begin the opposite side of your diamond shape, reversing the technique. Your seventh and eighth loops, will wrap in opposite directions around your 1-inch mark and will again have 1 inch between them. Your ninth and tenth loops will be made in the same style but should wrap around the 1/2-inch mark.
-
Step 7
Finish your diamond shape by making another tiny loop, which can be used for attaching your accent to your wire jewelry creations, and trim the excess wire. Use a pair of flat pliers to carefully flatten and perfect your large diamond shape.
