Instructions

    • 1

Find a magazine and tear out the most colorful pages. The brighter colors make more eye-catching beads.

    • 2

Cut out several strips of full-length pieces of paper in a triangular shape from the colorful page.

    • 3

Flip all the strips so that the side one doesn't want visible is facing upward. This will be the inside of the bead. Apply a bit of glue to about the last inch of the pointed end of the triangular strip.

    • 4

Roll the strips of paper into small tubes, starting at the wider end and working toward the pointed end, just like making a crescent roll. Be sure that the opening in each of the paper beads is not too large or too small. The opening should be large enough for the string of the necklace to fit through. Let dry before proceeding.

    • 5

Tie a clasp onto one end of the necklace string and thread the beads onto the string, making sure to leave no more than 3 inches of string at the end. To add more interest to the necklace, try threading a glass or metallic bead in between each paper bead on the string.

    • 6

Tie another clasp to the other end of the paper bead necklace. Make a paper bead bracelet to match the paper bead necklace if desired in the same manner.
