Watermelon isn't an ingredient that usually comes to mind when you think of a banana split. But when combined with ice cream, bananas and delicious toppings, watermelon makes a delightfully different hot weather treat. Serve some refreshing watermelon banana splits at your next summer get-together.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Large bananas
  • Bowls or banana split dishes
  • Ice cream scooper
  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Chocolate ice cream
  • Strawberry ice cream
  • Melon baller
  • Watermelon
  • Whipped cream
  • Your favorite toppings (flavored syrups, sprinkles, cherries)
  1. Step 1

Split a peeled banana in half lengthwise. Lay the halves side-by-side in a bowl or a banana split dish.

  2. Step 2

Place one scoop each of vanilla, strawberry and chocolate ice cream in a row on top of the split banana.

  3. Step 3

Use a melon baller to scoop out several balls of watermelon and arrange them on top of the bananas and ice cream.

  4. Step 4

Put a dollop of whipped cream on top of the watermelon banana split and add your favorite sundae toppings.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you're concerned about the fat content of your watermelon banana split, substitute low-fat frozen yogurt in place of ice cream;= and reduced-calorie whipped topping in place of whipped cream.
  • To add crunch, toss a handful of crushed nuts, toasted almonds or granola on top.
  • Add some extra fruit to the watermelon banana split. Try strawberries, cantaloupe, pineapple or berries.
  • Have a watermelon banana split party. Put all of the delicious ingredients on a table, give everybody a bowl, and let them build their own banana split.
