Finding and buying a used rowing machine can save you a lot of money. It also gives you the chance to look for the machine that best suits you which may not be available to purchase at a retail sporting goods store any more. With the right set of questions and some negotiations, you can find the right used rowing machine.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Research rowing machines to find the features you are looking for. Some of the top rowing machine manufacturers include Tunturi, Stamina and LifeCore. It is important to look more for the features you need than for a specific rowing machine, though narrowing down the rowing machine manufacturer can help your search for a used rowing machine. The features could include different difficulty levels, digital screen with counting and other programs, compact models or other features.

  2. Step 2

Make a list of the places and people who offer used rowing machines. Try Row Gear, which is located in the UK, or Gymcor.

  3. Step 3

Put together a list of questions to ask the seller or retailer. This could include the age of the machine, the condition, whether or not there is a warranty left or the manufacturer's manual and information. You should also ask about features and to see and use the used rowing machine, if you are purchasing it in person and not online. When checking it out, make sure all parts are intact and functioning and that nothing needs to be replaced. (The older a rowing machine is, the harder it will be to start replacing worn out parts.)

  4. Step 4

Ask for a warranty or guarantee. If you are purchasing the used rowing machine from a sporting good retailer or repair shop, there should be an in-store warranty or guarantee of some kind. If you are purchasing from an individual or online seller, you should ask for a 30-day guarantee to protect yourself if you buy a damaged rowing machine.
