You can make a quarter or any coin disappear in a number of ways. This trick involves a handkerchief and a rubber band.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Large handkerchief
  • Quarter
  • Tiny rubber band
  1. Step 1

Inform your audience that you will make a quarter disappear into the handkerchief and show them the handkerchief front and back so they know it is an ordinary handkerchief and not a prop.

  2. Step 2

Put the tips of your fingers of your dominant hand into a tiny rubber band. Make sure all the fingers and thumb are inside it.

  3. Step 3

Drape the handkerchief quickly over your dominant hand with the rubber band so the audience does not see, keep the tips of your fingers up.

  4. Step 4

Put the quarter dead center in the middle of the tips of your fingers. Push it deep into the handkerchief.

  5. Step 5

Flip the handkerchief around and place your other hand underneath the quarter while slipping the rubber band off the tips of your fingers. Now you should be holding the handkerchief in the fist of your non-dominant hand with the imprint of the quarter showing out of the top of your fist.

  6. Step 6

Show your audience the imprint of the quarter so they can see that the quarter is in fact inside the handkerchief.

  7. Step 7

Pick up a corner of the handkerchief with your other hand, let go of the quarter and wave the handkerchief a couple of times gently to reveal that the quarter is completely gone.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep several tiny rubber bands in your pocket in case one breaks in the middle of the trick.
  • This trick works well with a large handkerchief with a pattern in it because the quarter in the rubber band is less noticeable when hidden in the handkerchief.
  • Do not sharply snap the handkerchief at the end of the trick or the quarter could come loose and fly out.
