Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Modular Building Basics

Step1
Begin to make your modular cheese ball with cream cheese. Then add blue cheese, cheddar, Swiss, Colby jack, gruyere, feta or other cheeses.
Step2
Purchase a 4 oz. package of cream cheese for a smaller ball or an 8 oz. package for a large one. Add additional types of cheese beginning with ¼ to ½ cup and increase the amount according to taste.
Step3
Mix in chopped beef, chicken or ham when you make a modular cheese ball.
Step4
Check out your cupboard for spices that will give a distinct flavor to your cheesy creation. Add fresh garlic, parsley, green onions, celery, green peppers, jalapeño peppers, chives, olives and pimento.
Step5
Increase the flavor with a few teaspoons of flavored mustard, mayonnaise, salad dressing, creamy or dry ranch dressing, butter, creamy horseradish, Worcestershire sauce or Louisiana hot sauce.
Step6
Give your cheese ball the final touch. Roll it in crushed walnuts, almonds, pecans, peanuts, poppy seeds or simply sprinkle it with paprika.

Sweet Cheese Ball

Step1
Put all of the ingredients in a mixing bowl, and mix on medium until the cream cheese is soft. Stir with a spoon to finish combining all of the ingredients if they are not well blended.
Step2
Scoop the cheese mixture out of the bowl and put it on a large sheet of plastic wrap. Use the wrap to help you form a ball without getting your hands into the cheesy mixture.
Step3
Refrigerate until you are ready to serve. Spread a small amount of the sweet cheese ball on crackers or use it as a vegetable or fruit spread.
