Remember that babies and small children can easily choke on anything that can fit through a toilet paper roll. In addition, they are very curious and will explore anything that looks interesting. Very young children don't have a comprehension of danger, so it's the responsibility of the adult to make the home safe.

Get a toilet paper towel roll, pad of paper and pencil. Crawl around your house on your hands and knees. Look for things that a baby might try to pick up, pull or choke on, such as general clutter and electrical wires. Grasp objects such as furniture and room décor. If you can pull it over on yourself, then you need to remove it from the room. Make a list of any hazards that you notice such as electrical outlets, unsecured doors and unsecured toilets.
