How to Make a Coin Disappear

You can make a coin disappear with a slight of hand, or be sneakier and use an assistant to secretly help you make the coin vanish into thin air. The more people you have observing your trick, the better, so your secret assistant blends in.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Coin
  • Handkerchief
  1. Step 1

Select an assistant beforehand to help you with this trick, making sure to give him instructions before beginning. Make sure that your secret assistant has his hands in his pockets while observing the trick.

  2. Step 2

Take a coin and show it to everyone in your audience. Get them involved by having a couple of people in the audience hold the coin and verify that it is not a trick coin.

  3. Step 3

Pull out a handkerchief for your trick. Have a couple of people in the audience, one at at time, hold the handkerchief to verify it is not a trick prop.

  4. Step 4

Roll up your sleeves and tell your audience that you will make sure that everyone knows when the coin disappears that it did not go into your sleeve.

  5. Step 5

Place the coin into your hand. Have it sticking out a little so it can easily be removed by your assistant. Turn your hand over so your fist is facing downward.

  6. Step 6

Drape the handkerchief over your hand. Tell your audience that they may think the coin is already gone, but it is still there. Have someone from the audience reach under the handkerchief and feel for the coin to verify that it is still there.

  7. Step 7

Ask your secret assistant to reach into the handkerchief to verify that the coin is still there. He will then take his hand out of his pocket and reach under the handkerchief to touch the coin. While he has his hand on it, he will take the coin and place his hands back into his pockets, thus hiding the coin.

  8. Step 8

Remove the handkerchief and slowly open your hand to reveal that the coin is gone.
