How to Love Your Spouse Again

With all the demands of marriage, family and careers, it's very common for couples to let their intimacy and relationship fall by the wayside. Some people think that you don't have to work at marriage, because you're already married. This is simply not true. If you have lost some of those loving feelings, follow these steps to love your spouse again.

Instructions

    • 1

Think back to the time when you were dating and falling in love. Think about the things you did, like going to the movies, buying little gifts for each other and holding hands. Ask yourself why you stopped doing those things.

    • 2

Make the decision that now is the time to save your relationship and love your spouse again. Make an effort every day to do something for your spouse; something that is obvious you did just for him, and will make him smile. The more he sees you doing these things for him, the more he will reciprocate.

    • 3

Schedule a weekly date night. Even if you have children, you need to do this. Find a babysitter and get out of the house. If you don't feel that you can afford a babysitter, find a friend with whom you can trade free babysitting.

Introduce intimacy back into your relationship if you have let that part of your life dwindle. Begin by holding hands while you watch television in the evenings. Make a point to give your spouse at least five loving hugs each day, and take the time to share a romantic kiss with her. Increase your intimacy to the bedroom as quickly or as slowly as you feel comfortable, while making sure that you use your lovemaking to demonstrate your affection.

Allow yourself time to get those loving feelings back. Some days you may need to take a step back and remind yourself why this relationship is worth salvaging.
