If you're musically talented, consider joining a band. Not only will you have fun, but you may also find professional success as a member of a band. If you don't want to start a new band, you can join an established group.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look for auditions in your area. When bands need new members, they'll post flyers or ads in music publications. Browse the classified ads on Musician Hunter. You can look for bands in need of members in your area. Send a response to the ad to see when they're holding auditions.

  2. Step 2

Prep for the audition. Learn as much as you can about the band prior to auditioning. Find out if they want you to play or sing a certain song. If you need to get sheet music for the audition, download a copy from the website Music Notes.

  3. Step 3

Prepare for the audition, though over preparedness can make you nervous. Calm your nerves by distracting yourself with something fun before meeting with the band.

  4. Step 4

Audition. After you rock the audition, hopefully the band will accept you into the fold. They'll go over the rehearsal schedule as well as any gigs lined up. You should spend some time with them prior to officially joining in order to make sure you get along and share the same musical ideas.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can post an ad as well on Musician Hunter. Describe your talents and experience as well as upload a head shot.
  • You may need to send in a demo tape before a band agrees to set up an audition.
