S-lift cosmetic surgery is also known as the minimal incision face-lift, or the mini face-lift. It lifts your neck and the lower third of your face, and the entire procedure takes about 2 to 3 hours. The S-lift has fewer complications compared to a traditional face-lift and offers a quicker recovery. Best suited for middle-aged and younger men and women, the S-lift tightens sagging and lax muscles in the cheeks, chin and neck.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine your suitability for an S-lift. The best candidates are healthy with mild to moderate skin laxity in their lower face and neck. Patients are typically between age 30 and 60, with early jowling or excessive neck skin.

  2. Step 2

Find an experienced surgeon. Good places to start are the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, which offers a free referral service, or the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery for a local board certified physician. Interview two or three physicians, ask to see before and after pictures of their work, and bring your concerns.

  3. Step 3

Follow doctors' orders to prepare for your mini face-lift. Inform your physician of all medications you're taking. Avoid medications that may exacerbate bleeding.

  4. Step 4

Schedule recovery time. Rest at home for at least 24 hours and take mild pain relievers if necessary. Minor bruising and swelling will last for one to two days.

  5. Step 5

Return to normal activities or work after four to five days. The doctor removes the small bandage and sutures after six to seven days.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be realistic with your expectations of what plastic surgery can actually do. It can boost self-confidence and improve aesthetics, but it's not a guarantee of happiness.
  • Avoid direct sun for several weeks after your mini face-lift.
