Things You'll Need:
- "Rock Band" video game
- Video game console
- Television

Step 1
Play "Rock Band" by yourself until you get used to the game. Arguably the most fun part of "Rock Band" is the fact that you can play the game with up to three friends. However, you should start out by playing the game alone while you get used to the guitar and hearing the music of the game. Playing with other people can serve as a distraction as well as make it difficult to hear the music.
-
Step 2
Begin by playing the game on the easiest level. Even if you've played "Guitar Hero" and have mastered that game, you should play at least one song on the easiest setting to simply get the feel for "Rock Band." You can also utilize practice mode of the game. This is highly recommended if you've never played "Rock Band" or any game like it in the past.
-
Step 3
Defeat all of the songs on “Easy” before you attempt to move on to other songs at higher difficulties. This may seem mundane, but it is a good way to get more practice at the hand eye coordination and finger movements needed to master "Rock Band."
-
Step 4
Play songs at higher levels in practice mode. Then, play those same songs at an easier level while on tour. For example, if you're about to play “Creep” on medium difficulty in your tour, play the song in practice mode on “Hard.” Play it a couple of times in practice mode until you get anywhere between 65 and 70 percent. Then, play that song on "Medium" in your tour. You'll find the song to be much easier.
-
Step 5
Practice moving your pinkie finger to the appropriate buttons while not playing any songs in "Rock Band." The hardest part of guitar on "Rock Band" is moving your pinkie finger and the rest of your hand when you have to hit more than 3 buttons. This occurs on songs that are played outside of the “Easy” difficulty level. Many people have problems moving their hands and pinkie finger when the time comes. Practice stretching your hand out correctly so that when the time comes to play songs on "Rock Band" you will be more comfortable.
-
Step 6
Never take your eye of the screen when playing "Rock Band." It is a natural instinct when playing "Rock Band" to want to look down at the guitar to make sure that your fingers are positioned correctly. However, since you need to look at the screen in order to know which note to play, it is important to constantly look ahead at your TV. Once you get off the beat or notes of the song, it can be very difficult to get back on track.
