How to Organize a Campsite

Organizing a campsite can be done in a few different ways, depending on whether or not you own a camper or a motor home. Organizing a campsite is easy and can be done by anyone. Instructions

    • 1

Set up a large dome-shaped mosquito net. You can purchase a net at most camping supply stores. This net fits over any standard-sized picnic table and is big enough to sit under while you eat or visit. The best part is, it keeps the bugs out. The nets have a zipper for easy access.

    • 2

Set aside one picnic table for games only. This table should have a deck of cards, a few board games, a laptop with a wireless internet card, a boom box and snack foods. Organize your campsite game table with lots of family activities.

    • 3

Park your motor home or camper in the campsite where you have easy access. Motor homes are perfect for eating and sleeping in. They also house your toilet and shower. If you have a trailer consider yourself fortunate. If not, no worries. Plenty of campers camp without bringing their home with them.

    • 4

Set up your tent or tents in an area of the campsite away from the campfire. It is also a good idea to set the tents up away from where your family dwells. Some family members hit the sack early, so a quiet area for the bedding is best.

    • 5

Drop all the campfire wood near the fire pit. Most campsites come with a pre-built campfire pit. For those campsites that don't, making a campfire is a piece of cake. Just pile up your extra boards and wood in the dirt away from everything else and light it on fire. Organize the campfire so it burns big and bright without burning anything it shouldn't.

    • 6

Lay out some mats and blankets for the animals. Many campers bring the family dog. Setting up an area for the pets with bedding, food and water dishes will keep the pets away from the food area.

    • 7

Put out some lounge chairs for napping and some beach-style chairs for hanging out. A quiet campsite is the perfect place for catching up on that new novel you haven't had time to read. Organize the campsite chairs for easy visiting and relaxing.

Tips & Warnings

  • Camping is a great family activity, and provides something for everyone. If the campsite is organized properly and everything is in its place, the camping experience is a lot more enjoyable. Making a list before you leave the house is a sure way to make sure nothing is forgotten.

  • Camping is a great way to expose yourself to mosquito and other bug bites. When organizing your list of what to bring on your camping trip, don't forget to add the bug spray.
