How to Make Rose Cologne
There are secrets in making designer scents. One of the secrets is the cost in making them. Most fragrances on the market cost less than a dollar to make, but the brand names reap the inflated profits. You can make your own cologne at home using similar rose concoctions that some of the top selling fragrances use. - 6 cups fresh, scented rose petals (unsprayed, untreated)
- 3 cups of vodka
- 10 drops tincture of benzoin
- 5 tbsp. vegetable glycerin
- 55 drops of rose essential oil
- 15 drops geranium essential oil

Prepare the roses. Sterilize a large jar and a tightly sealed lid. Put the rose petals in the jar.

Prepare the ingredients. Pour the vodka into a separate sterile jar. Add the essential oils, the tincture of benzoin, and the glycerin. Close the jar and shake vigorously.

Combine the roses and ingredients. Now take the mixture of vodka in one jar and pour it over the rose petals in another jar. Shake the contents well.

Shake the jar daily. For three weeks, shake the jar daily. Be sure to seal the lid tight and store the jar away from humidity and cold temperatures.

Pour mixture into a beautiful bottle. Find a beautiful bottle to store your new rose cologne. Consider keeping the rose petals in the jar. If you chose a tiny bottle, the rose petals may not fit. Try to find a bottle that will hold the rose petals.

You can modify the ingredients to give it the aroma you desire. Experiment with the essential oils to develop a unique scent of your own.
Benzoin and tincture has a vanilla fragrant. This brings out the youthful and romantic aroma in rose cologne. Add more rose petals or rose essential oils for a more mature, elegant fragrance.
Alcohol is a main ingredient in fragrances. It preserves floral scents and other properties from spoiling. You must be 21 years of age or older to purchase alcohol for this project.
Do not spill the essential oils on your skin. Concentrated essential oils may burn the skin or create an allergic reaction. Always mix essential oils with carrier oil before applying it to the skin.
