How to Draw a Rabbit

How to Draw a Rabbit thumbnail
Rabbits don't have to friendly and fuzzy. They can be evil and fuzzy.

Rabbits are fuzzy, friendly and fun-if you draw them that way. Otherwise they can be creepy, obnoxious or boorish. You can also give them any personality in between when you use your imagination to draw a rabbit. Even if you are a crummy artist, rabbits are pretty obvious illustrations since their floppy ears usually give them away. You can draw a rabbit with a few simple steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Make the bunny face. This includes a pair of eyeballs, a cute little button nose and rounded cheeks. Since rabbits are traditionally depicted and fuzzy, kind and cute, it’s an awful lot of fun to make them grungy and evil. This is done with menacing, slanted eyeballs and, as you’ll see later, pointed teeth.

    • 2

Add the rabbit’s ears and part of his body. His ears will be long, cylindrical things coming out of the top of his head. They can be straight up in the air or bent nicely at random angles. The rabbit’s body should be rounded because rabbits are usually happy and plump.

    • 3

Finish off the body. This includes making a fat, rounded line to serve as his jumping hind leg and two thinner legs in front of his chest. Don’t forget the powder puff tail.

    • 4

Complete the rabbit drawing with the small details. Make a few lines in his tail and underneath his ears to indicate fur. Stick him with some whiskers, which can be straight and alert or kind of grungy. Give him some buck teeth. Since our rabbit is a grungy, evil variety of hare, he got fangs instead of rounded teeth.

Tips & Warnings

  • Rabbits are good for decorating Easter cards, signs on a carrot patch or on the bedroom wall of a very small child.

  • If you are going to decorate a children’s bedroom with a rabbit drawing, opt for a friendly, funny rabbit rather than the grungy evil type.
