How to Identify Symptoms of Thrush in Men
Thrush is a yeast infection caused by the overgrowth of a fungus known as candida albicans, which is found living in or around the human body. Candida albicans is usually not harmful because it's kept under control by the "good" bacteria in the body. However, there are times when overgrowth of this fungus may occur. Despite some myths, it can and does occur in men.

Inspect your mouth thoroughly in a mirror. There are two types of thrush a man can incur; oral and penile. Oral thrush usually appears as creamy white lesions on the tongue, inner cheeks, roof of the mouth, the gums, or the tonsils. It can be in multiple places.

Look for inflammation of the head of the penis; it may be red, sore or itchy. Typically thrush will appear in men around the penis. Small red spots can also appear on the head. An irregular discharge can also occur. Men with a foreskin can check for a cottage cheese like substance that gathers under the skin.

Tips & Warnings
Thrush in men is not necessarily sexually transmitted. Though this can be a way to develop thrush, it is not often the case. In fact, most men who develop thrush are not actually sexually active.
If it's the first time you've noticed these symptoms, be sure to get properly checked out as they may be a sign of some other infection as well.
