Things You'll Need:

    Show Your Support

  1. Step 1

Educate yourself on gun politics. Make sure that you know the history and statistics of gun use in America so that you can effectively support your position against an opponent. Read books, newspaper and magazine articles and online websites for more information.

  2. Step 2

Join gun-control organizations. Lend your patronage to organizations and foundations that are working to uphold gun control laws. You can help by volunteering or donating money.

  3. Step 3

Write to your representatives in Congress. Urge them to do all that they can to use their significant influence to pass anti-gun legislation. Let them know that your vote depends on their actions.

  4. Step 4

Spread the word about the importance of gun control. Educate your fellow family members, friends, neighbors and other people in the community. Make sure to cite current statistics and other facts to support your stance, and get others to lend their support as well.

  5. Step 5

Vote. This is the single most effective thing you can do to support gun control. Vote for politicians that have a history of supporting gun control or who vow to implement stronger gun control policies. Keep track of new propositions during key voting seasons, and make your voice heard.
