The Ukulele is one of the main instruments in Hawaiian Music. Its distinct sound and shape sets it apart from various other instruments in the string family. Usually accompanied by an Acoustic Bass and Acoustic Guitar, the Ukulele can be strummed or picked playing rhythm or lead. In its acoustic or electronic form, the Ukulele can also be heard with the Electric Bass, Electric Guitar and a Lap Steel Guitar.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Hold the body of the Ukulele with the right arm over the front and right hand holding underneath.
Step2
Place the neck of the Ukulele between the left thumb and index finger.
Step3
Between the string spacer and the first fret, hold all four strings down with the index finger.
Step4
Place the pinky finger between the third and fourth fret on the "A" or bottom string.
Step5
Press down firmly on the assigned strings and strum with the right hand near the center of the Ukulele body.

Tips & Warnings

  • The "Frets" are metal strips that are located on the neck of the Ukulele.
  • The assigned strings on the Ukulele from top to bottom are G, C, E and A .
