Things You'll Need:
- Extra Deep Bathtub
- 1-1/2 in Pipe
- 3/8 in Pipe
- Wrench
- Porcelain Coasters
- Thread Sealant
- Level
- Tape measure
- PVC Saw
- PVC Primer
- Glue
-
Step 1
Measure your tub dimensions in the bathroom. Never purchase a tub without knowing how much room you'll have for installing it. If you are ordering your extra deep bathtub online or over the phone, make sure your measurements are exact. If you have any doubt, have a professional come out and measure the area for you.
-
Step 2
Cut a 1-1/2 in. IPS pipe 1-1/2 in. to use as a waste line on the flooring. Cut another 1-1/2 in. IPS pipe 3/8 in. to use above the floor for your water supply.
-
Step 3
Level the floor space under the tub area. Hopefully the bathroom floor is already level, but just in case it is off, use porcelain coasters under your tub feet. Using a thicker coaster under the uneven floor area will level the tub. Porcelain coasters are great for tub stabilizing.
-
Step 4
Cut the drain and overflow tubing to size. As per any manufacturer's instructions, make sure the tub feet are assembled correctly and any nuts and bolts are screwed tight.
-
Step 5
Using a thread sealant, secure the threaded connections. Connect the overflow and waste assemblies to the 1-1/2 in. pipe that goes out from the floor to the 1-3/8 in. waste assembly pipe. Connect the supply lines directly to the tub faucet by compression fitting.
-
Step 6
Cut the lines for the perfect fit, and then check the lines for leaks by turning on the water.
