How to Make a Picture Frame Leaf Print Border
The best gifts are the ones made by little hands. Kids can make picture frames out of leaves and add their picture to give to Mom or Dad as a gift. They could also make the frame and put a picture of their favorite animal inside. The craft uses real leaves which your child will have fun gathering. Then they get to play with paints for even more excitement.
Things You'll Need
- Some clean dry leaves
- White Poster board
- Paints
- Paint brush
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Scissors

Decide how big you want your frame to be. The inside piece should be based on the size of your picture, but the outside can be wide and much bigger. Use your ruler to measure your picture and draw that in the middle of your poster board. You could also place your picture in the middle and trace around it. Now cut out the middle. Use your ruler to create the edges of your frame for the outside. Draw that and then cut it out. You now have your frame.

Set your picture in a safe place so it doesn't get paint on it. Now take out your biggest leaf and paint underneath of it. That is where the veins of the leaf are that will show up on your painting. Press your leaf down on the corner of your frame. Paint it again and do each corner with same leaf. Each time you make a print you give your leaf a fresh coat of paint and remember to press down on it.

Paint your other sized leaves and press them around the rest of the frame to create your own fun pattern. Use different colored paints for each type of leaf. Remember to use fresh paint with each print and to press it down all the way before lifting it back up.

Let your frame dry.

Attach your picture underneath with a little glue. Allow it to dry and give it away as a gift or display it in your bedroom.

Cover your workspace with newspapers to protect your household surfaces.
Wear a smock or an apron to keep from ruining your clothes.
