    Look at you friends and family. Make a short list of those you think are the most responsible that you would entrust the life of your child to in case of an emergency.

    Discuss your short list with your spouse or significant other and the childrens grandparents.

  3. Step 3

    Ask these friends or family members if they will assume this awesome responsibility of being godparents.

  4. Step 4

    Describe the what responsibilities you would expect from them after the birth of the child and in the event that something happens to you and your significant other.

  5. Step 5

    After the birth of the child, ensure that the godparents play an active role in their life so that they are comfortable with them.
