Clean Rusted Cymbols

Cleaning rusty cymbals is easier than you think....

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

STEEL WOOL: To clean rust off of your symbols, take a piece of steel wool and gently rub it over the spots that are rusted.

  2. Step 2

CLEAN: Clean your cymbals with a mild abrasive cleaner like Brasso or Tarnx. Use a rag to gently rub the cleaner onto the cymbals. Other recommended cleaning products include Comet and Formula 409.

  3. Step 3

POLISH: Finish by polishing your cymbals with car wax. But only use car wax on smooth cymbals like Brilliants and Platinums. Another product you can use is the Zildjian Cymbal Cleaner available for $10.95. Look under resources for a quick link to where to purchase this product.

on 6/19/2008 Short and Simple.. This is excellent as I used to play cymbols in my marching band when I was younger. However becareful when using the steel wool.. USE GLOVES... I have rubbed my fingers raw using steel wool when I was a waitress.
