Instructions

    • 1

Start by making a foundation chain of twelve stitches using the chain stitch. Be sure to keep your gauge even and not to work too tightly.

    • 2

Make a single crochet stitch by inserting the hook in second stitch from hook, under the top loop. Bring the yarn over the hook and draw the loop through the stitch. Now there will be two loops on the hook. Bring the yarn over your hook again and pull the loop through both loops on your hook. You've made your first single crochet and will have one loop remaining on hook.

    • 3

Repeat Step 2 in each stitch of your foundation chain.

    • 4

Come to the end of your chain and "chain up" by crocheting one extra stitch.

    • 5

Turn your work around from left to right so that the opposite side is facing you.

    • 6

Work one single crochet stitch in the first stitch of the previous row. Now work a single crochet stitch in each of the stitches across the previous row. Ta-da, you've made your second row!
