More and more investors are turning to online trading companies for their investment options. Charles Schwab not only offers investment accounts through their offices and financial advisors, but investors can now open and trade on their own in their online Schwab account.

  1. Step 1

    Go to Charles Schwab's website. Charles Schwab offers a website complete with online education and information tools, tips and tricks on investing, the ability to open and maintain an online account, and more. The website address is www.schwab.com.

  2. Step 2

    Click the "Get Started" link. In the top navigation bar there is a "Get Started" link. Click on this link and it will take you to another page of options. If you are ready to open an account, go to the next step. You can also view other links to find out more information before you open an account.

  3. Step 3

    Open an account. Click on the "Open an Account" link. The site will walk you through an application process you need to complete to set-up your online trading account. One of these steps will include funding your account which means depositing or transferring money into your online account.

  4. Step 4

    Choose how you are going to invest. You can either choose to do-it-yourself or use a professional Charles Schwab financial advisor. It's your choice and it doesn't have to be all or nothing. There may be times when you want to do your own research and make your own trades online. Then other times you may want to speak to a professional before making a trade. Either way, www.schwab.com allows you to open and operate your investment account online.
