Things You'll Need:

  • Pure essential oils
  • Sesame or Almond oil
  • Plastic bottle with cap

Use Essential Oils to Help Relieve Fatigue

  1. Step 1

Choose 100% pure essential oils-only these offer healthful benefits. The label will state "100% pure." You can find them at health food stores and online. Don’t use synthetic oils-they do not have the same benefits.

  2. Step 2

Buy only sesame or almond oil that is specifically designed to be used for massage. It has been specially refined and prepared for use on the skin. You can get it at health food stores and online.

  3. Step 3

Select the formula that most appeals to your sense of smell. Most stores have tester bottles, so take a few whiffs and choose the scents you really like. There are several energizing formulas to help relieve fatigue-here are three. Formula #1: Bergamot, Lemon and Cumin essential oils. Formula #2: Spearmint, Pine and Ginger essential oils. Formula #3: Peppermint, Rosemary and Grapefruit essential oils.

  4. Step 4

Make Formula #1. To create the massage oil, mix the essential oils with the sesame or almond oil, known as "carrier" oils. Measure one tablespoon (15ml) of the oil into the plastic bottle, then add 5 drops each of Bergamot, Lemon and Cumin essential oils. Shake well. Go to Step 7.

  5. Step 5

Make Formula #2. To create the massage oil, mix the essential oils with the sesame or almond oil, known as "carrier" oils. Measure one tablespoon (15ml) of the oil into the plastic bottle, then add 6 drops of Spearmint essential oil, 5 of Pine and 4 of Ginger. Shake well. Go to Step 7.

  6. Step 6

Make Formula #3. To create the massage oil, mix the essential oils with the sesame or almond oil, known as "carrier" oils. Measure one tablespoon (15ml) of the oil into the plastic bottle, then add 6 drops of Peppermint essential oil, 5 of Rosemary and 4 of Grapefruit. Shake well. Go to Step 7.

  7. Step 7

Massage the oil blend onto the back of your neck, shoulders, down your back and your upper chest. Wait several minutes for the oil to absorb fully into your skin. For best absorption, apply the oil immediately after you shower. If possible, don’t wash the oil off your hands-instead cup them and inhale several times, and let your hands also absorb the oil.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want to make a larger batch of oil, simply increase the proportions, such as doubling or tripling the amounts. The massage oil will keep.
  • For anyone with sensitive skin, dilute the essential oils even more.
  • Store all oils in a cool dry place. Keep the lids firmly closed to prevent evaporation, and keep away from sunlight.
  • Citrus derived essential oils, such as Grapefruit, Bergamot and Lemon have about a one-year shelf life, after which their efficacy begins to fade. Other essential oils can last much longer.
  • Do not use Rosemary essential oil if you suffer from high blood pressure, as the oil can increase blood pressure.
  • Do not use essential oils if you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant without getting professional advice.
  • If any skin irritation occurs, stop using immediately.

on 8/8/2009 I like this, especially the part about using 100% pure. I like to use organic too.
