Instructions

  1. Lavender Scrub

    • 1

Crush the lavender with an herb crusher or the back of a metal spoon in a small bowl. For an even finer powder, you can use a food processor. Set aside.

    • 2

Combine the salt, both oils and vitamin E in a small bowl and mix thoroughly so that the salt is completely saturated with the oil. Set aside for 30 minutes.

    • 3

Check it to see that the oil and salt have separated after 30 minutes. There will be a thin layer (about 1/2 an inch) of oil floating on top and the salt will be settled below. If you need to add more salt, do it now. Mix and let set again.

    • 4

Add the crushed lavender and combine thoroughly once the salt and oil mixture is the preferred consistency, .

    • 5

Add the essential oil. This should be the very last thing you do before storing your mixture because essential oil fragrances disperse very quickly.

    • 6

Store in a sealable, widemouthed jar. You can use decorative glass jars if giving the scrub away as a gift.

    • 7

To apply the mixture, use your fingers to rub in a circular motion into damp skin. Massage for 30 seconds and then rinse with warm water. Pat (don’t rub) dry with a clean towel and follow immediately with an oil-free moisturizer or lotion.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use a fine grain salt in lieu of the sea salt for a more gentle exfoliation.

  • Coarse sea salts are best used for foot exfoliation.

  • Citrus essential oils are thought to be good for ridding the body of cellulite.

  • Be careful when using the scrub in the shower because the oil in this scrub can make smooth surfaces very slippery.

  • Do not use a body scrub immediately after sun bathing or after a fresh shave.
