A steam facial is a great way to open pours, remove bacteria to eliminate blackheads and loosen the impurities caused from every day pollution. A facial at a spa can cost in the $100 range, but this at-home treatment will give you spa-quality at an affordable price. It will only cost you the price of a cup of rose petals. Here’s how to give yourself a rose water facial right at home. At home steam baths are also great for when you have a cold. Breathe in the vapors before going to bed for an easier night's sleep.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Large bowl (you can use the sink as well)
  • Towel
  • Spray bottle
  • 1 cup fresh rose petals
  • 1 gallon of water
  • Tea kettle or medium pot
  • Water (about a gallon)
  • Oil-free moisturizer

    Get Your Ingredients

  1. Step 1

Boil the water in a kettle

  2. Step 2

Place the rose petals in your bowl or sink, whichever you’re using for the steam facial.

  3. Step 3

Pour boiled water over the petals.

  4. Step 4

Cover your head with the towel and place it over the bowl. Make sure that the towel seals the steam in so that little can escape.

  5. Step 5

Absorb the vapors. Keep your head a comfortable distance from the hot water (about a foot), so as not to burn your face. Steam is dangerous and your facial should not hurt. If you are struggling to breathe, the steam is too hot.

  6. Step 6

Steam your face for 15 minutes.

  7. Step 7

Pat your face dry with a towel and immediately apply your favorite light moisturizer.

  8. Step 8

Don’t waste the leftovers. You can use the leftover rose infused water as a body spray, air freshener or linen spray. Once the water has cooled, pour it into a spray bottle.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use organic rose petals to avoid infusing pesticides with your fresh facial water.
  • Be aware of the dangers of steam. Steam can cause severe burning, so make sure you test the steam before putting your face in front of it.
