The use a cold treatments will help to stop the itch in its tracks. Running cold water over the area or placing a clean cold washcloth over the affected area will help to stop the irritation along with cool showers will help to relieve the pain of itchiness.

Use anti-itch creams and lotions that contain ingredients such as camphor, menthol, promoxine, phenol, benzocaine and diphenhydramine will help to relieve the symptoms. This will help stop you from itching and if after using these products for 10 days then go see your physician for further consultation and find out what is causing the itching to occur.

Using antihistamines are known to normally used to treat itchiness and usually include the ingredients diphenydramine and chlorpheniramine. However, they do have a side effect of drowsiness, and it is recommended to not drive or operate heavy machinery while taking this medication. There are over the counter medications that do not cause those side effects and contain the ingredients Loratidine and fexofenadine.

Consult a doctor if none of these treatments are helping with treating the itchiness as there may be an underlying problem that requires the doctor to look into the problem further. Also a higher grade of these medications may need to prescribe as the doctor sees fit.
