Step 1
First, remove all furniture, bedding, toys and draperies from the room. Lay out a drop cloth to prevent paint drips. Tape baseboards and window frames with painters' tape. If needed, fill any holes or cracks with putty and sand smooth.Beginning with sky blue, paint walls two coats from floor to ceiling. If desired, paint ceiling also. Let paint dry between each coat, and be sure to wear eye protection and a mask, and use adequate ventilation. If you can smell paint fumes, you do not have adequate ventilation. Using midnight blue paint, begin at baseboards and work your way about a third of the way up the wall, making arches of paint that look like waves. Switch to marine blue and use a sea sponge to stipple paint onto the waves to make them look like they are "breaking." Once dry, repeat with white paint and a clean sea sponge.

Step 2
Stencil an ark shape on the wall, the length of your child's bed or the width of the headboard, depending which way you intend to place the bed. Paint ark shape with medium brown paint. Using a dry brush, dip in light brown paint and stroke brush across a piece of newspaper a couple times until only a little paint is left on the brush. Pull brush across the length of the ark silhouette, making "wood grain," marks. Repeat with black paint. Let dry.

Step 3
Screw a cup hook into the ceiling. Using a glue gun or instant silicone adhesive, attach an artificial dove to a thin branch with the bark and small twigs still attached. Be careful when using glue gun to avoid burns. If you use instant silicone adhesive, be sure to use adequate ventilation. If you can smell fumes, you do not have adequate ventilation. Using gold cord, hang branch from a corner of the ceiling, well above height of any adults in room. Use remaining cup hooks to hang two each of a variety of stuffed animals around the room.

Step 4
Using the wall opposite the Noah's Ark mural, create a floor to ceiling marker board. Using a projector or graph paper to enlarge the Noah's Ark printables in the resources section at the end of this article, paint outlines onto the floor to ceiling marker board. Attach a piece of chalk board rail to wall at child's height, using 2 inch wood screws.
