How to Remove Water Stains With Ash

Wooden furniture is often quite attractive, and it gives the room a rustic appeal that is unmatched by either fabric covered or glass furniture. One problem that is encountered quite frequently with wooden furniture is finding water spots on the finish left by a glass or bowl. There are all sorts of cleaners and spot removers at your local stores, but why bother when you can make a cleaner at home that can do the same trick? The following article will teach you how to remove stains from your wooden furniture with ash.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Ash
  • Water
  • Bowl or plate

    Using the ash paste to remove water spots

  1. Step 1

    Place some cigarette or cigar ash on a plate or in a bowl. You can use fireplace ash as well if you don't smoke.

  2. Step 2

    Mix a few drops of water with the ash, making a paste.

  3. Step 3

    Rub the paste gently on the water stain with a cloth, or just use the end of your finger.

  4. Step 4

    Wipe the remaing paste off, the stain should be gone!

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure the paste is thick enough so that is spreads and covers the stain thoroughly
  • Don't use hot ash- you'll burn yourself!
