1. Think about questions that you would want your date to ask you and then turn them around. Those questions will likely be asked of you. This leaves the conversation open to easy progression.

2. Ask about their family and friends. This is always a good topic because it will allow you to see the softer side of your date. When someone talks about their family and friends, it usually involves raw emotion that they can't help but show even when they're trying to cover it up.

3. Talk about their passion and hobbies, not necessarily about their job. Many people work at a job that has nothing to do with their passion in life. What someone does in their spare time is what they love to do. For many their hobby is their passion while their job merely earns them money. Many people love talking about their hobbies more than any other subject.

4. Ask about their travels. Most people have at least been somewhere outside of their home area. It doesn't matter if it's another country or another city, travel tends to excite people. In addition to asking them where they've been you have the availability to ask them where they would love to go in the future.
