Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • MDF
  • Wood
  • Screws
  • Wood Glue
  • Silicon
  • Polyfill
  • Wire
  • Speaker Terminal
  • Tool Kit (including Jigsaw)
  1. Step 1

Use your speaker drivers to determine the size of the box. You need to follow the factory specifications to ensure the box produces the best sound.

  2. Step 2

Purchase the necessary materials. You will need MDF (amount needed depends on size of the box), wood to brace the box, screws, wood glue, silicon, polyfill, wire, speaker terminals and a basic tool kit including a jigsaw.

  3. Step 3

Measure and cut all the sides of your box based on the factory specs.

  4. Step 4

Paint these pre-cut sides and allow to dry completely.

  5. Step 5

Use a jigsaw to cut the speaker holes to size.

  6. Step 6

Cut a hole in one of the box sides large enough to house the speaker wire terminal.

  7. Step 7

Put the box together by placing a bead of wood glue along each edge of the box sides to adhere the box into place.

  8. Step 8

Put a screw in the sides to further hold the box in place. Place a screw about every 6 inches along the box.

  9. Step 9

Mount the speaker wire terminal. Run the wires from the terminal to the speaker.

  10. Step 10

Use a bead of silicon around each edge to seal the box. Also, seal the speaker terminal with silicon. Let the silicon dry for at least 24 hours.

  11. Step 11

    Fill the box with polyfill.

  12. Step 12

Mount the speakers into the box.

Tips & Warnings
  • Carpeting the box before mounting the speakers will reduce sound absorption.
