Take the Staten Island Ferry if you want to see the New York City skyline for free. Since 1997, the ferry has bee free to everybody. This is the best travel bargain in New York City.

Ride the subway or bus for a fare of $2. The fare for an express bus ride is $5. Purchase the one day pass for $7.50 to travel all day long on one subway pass. This pass is good for unlimited subway and local bus rides from first use until 3:00 a.m. the following day. You can buy the MetroCard at MetroCard vending machines and at neighborhood stores.

Walk to where you need to go. Like most New Yorkers, walking is the best way to get to where you need to go. New York City is only 7 miles long, but the majority of attractions are only a mile or two away from each other.
