Your great relationship has started to fizzle without any sort of true reason. You are in love, but lately you seem to catch a hint of perfume on your boyfriend that is not your own. He stays out all hours, and his reasoning never seems to quite make sense. Whatever the situation may be, you now suspect that your partner is a cheater. Here is how you can catch a cheater in a lie, or put your suspicions to rest.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Say that he smells great when you smell a hint of perfume on him that is unlike anything you own. He may have a logical explanation up front. If he does, it is likely that he is not cheating unless he seems nervous while delivering the explanation. If he explains that he is trying a new cologne, ask him what kind. If he has been to the store trying on scents, he knows what sort of scent he was considering. Try to ask a follow up question with a casual tone. Make it appear that you love the scent more than you are playing the jealous girlfriend. You may be the jealous girlfriend, but there is no need to be obvious.

  2. Step 2

Ask what has been going on at work. Do this at a casual time after you have shared something about your work. If he has been giving you lots of excuses for working late, chances are that work is a haven of madness if he is telling the truth. If he is lying and work has been routine, then he has been inventing the excuse to make time for his cheating ways. Make sure to get details about why work has been crazy enough to invite late working.

  3. Step 3

Rent "Fatal Attraction." Tell him you got what you heard is a great film, and ask him to sit down and watch it with you. Choose a perfect time so there are no distractions. It's a film about a man who cheats on his wife, and he pays the price for the affair. The woman he is having the affair makes him pay. This is a funny film to show him if he is cheating. It will no doubt get a nervous reaction from him and he may realize that you are on to him. Prepare for a possible confession so make sure you are up to hearing the truth.

  4. Step 4

Ask him the same question three times without being serious about it. Ask initially, then ask again by slowly bringing the conversation around to that topic. Ask the same question the next day in a different context by wording it differently. If he gives a different answer any of the times, he is lying about something. It may not be the cheating that he is lying about, but it is most likely.

  5. Step 5

Tell him that you know the truth. When he has something to hide, he will get nervous. You know your partner so well, and you know what his reactions are when he gets nervous. He may confess to his lie right then and there. If he has nothing to hide, he will be confused. You can then avoid looking like an idiot, and make a joke of it. Say something like, "I know the truth. We are going to go out for Italian tonight." Anything that will make him smile. Keep in mind, your cheater may be a good enough liar to keep calm under pressure, but chances are, this is a great way to get a confession.
