How to Boost WiFi

Wi-Fi is becoming more common as use of laptop computers and wireless networks increases. But a Wi-Fi signal may not always be the best due to where your computer or other receiving device is located. If you're not able to boost reception by changing locations, you can boost your Wi-Fi receiving signal by following these easy steps.

Things You'll Need

• Metal strainer
• Scissors
• USB adapter
• USB extension cable

Instructions

1. Use scissors to cut a hole in the bottom of the strainer. The hole needs to be big enough for the wireless USB adapter to fit into.

2. Push the non-plug side of the USB adapter through the hole on the strainer. It will create a satellite-dish effect.

3. Plug the Wi-Fi adapter into the female end of the USB extension cable. Plug the male end of the USB extension cable into a USB outlet on your computer or whatever device is

   receiving the wireless signal.

4. Place the strainer with USB adapter attached in a place you think will receive good reception. It will probably be a higher rather than lower area.

5. Test the reception of your wireless signal by using the wireless USB adapter software on your computer or other wireless device. The software should've come with the wireless USB adapter. Set the adapter in different places to adjust signal strength.
